About Us

Energetic country meets edgy rock when the Dirt Road Angels hit the stage.

The Dirt Road Angels are a rockin’ country female group based in Edmonton, Alberta, who have been writing music and sharing stages for over a decade. These talented ladies consistently deliver deliciously layered harmonies and an undeniably hefty dose of charisma along with a high-energy stage performance.

Individual recording artists Danita Lynn, Dahlia Wakefield, Shila Marie and Karen Claypool came together in the fall of 2013, releasing an introductory compilation CD branding themselves as the Dirt Road Angels. Since their inception, the group has gone on to record two more albums, Paint the Town Red (2014) and Extra Dirty (2018). They have also released many singles and videos since.

Rob Hewes, their trusted producer since the beginning of the group’s projects, meticulously weaves and blends their vocals into a musical tapestry, enticing listeners to want to hear more of their lush, intricate harmonies laced into heartwarming melodies and relatable lyrics.

Two songs on their second album Paint the Town Red were finalists in the International Acoustic Music Awards and the Calgary Folk Music Songwriting Contest. Their third album Extra Dirty features remakes of two well-known classics: Johnny Cash’s Folsom Prison Blues and the Eagles’ Seven Bridges Road. Both remain fan favourites. The title track Extra Dirty as well as Call It Home both went to number one on the European Country Music Charts.

The seven-time ACMA Group of the Year nominees have released 19 singles to Canadian Country Radio from their three albums collectively. The Dirt Road Angels have showcased at CCMA events, AAAS Conventions and performed for many other high-profile events including Taste of Edmonton, Porkapalooza, Blueberry Bluegrass Music Festival, Beaumont Blues & Roots Festival, Festival Place Patio Series and the Roots and Boots Concert Tour opening for U.S. acts Colin Raye, Sammy Kershaw and Aaron Tippin. They have also opened for American act Blackjack Billy and top Canadian country acts such as Kira Isabella, Brett Kissell, High Valley, Doc Walker, Road Hammers, Aaron Pritchett and many more.

These hard-working, dedicated ladies are proud of their accomplishments and are especially grateful for their loyal fans and each other. Having wrapped their most recent holiday single “Cozy Up for Christmas”, they are now focusing on writing and recording new music to share with their fans in 2026. They continue to build momentum as they follow their musical journey.

The Dirt Road Angels continue to fly, sharing music, joy and love as they follow their dreams.
